The Domus de Janas enter the UNESCO World Heritage List
The Regional Directorate of National Museums of Sardinia celebrates the inscription of the Domus de Janas as a World Heritage of Humanity.
The Regional Directorate of National Museums of Sardinia has published an article to announce that the Domus de Janas have been officially recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. During the session of the World Heritage Committee in Paris, the nomination, proposed by the working group coordinated by CeSIM and led by Professor Giuseppa Tanda, was favorably received. Seventeen sites were selected from the twenty-six candidates in the project “Art and Architecture of Prehistoric Sardinia. The Domus de Janas”. The successes achieved represent the fruit of a complex collaboration that has involved public bodies, institutions, local communities, and Sardinian universities. The Ministry of Culture financially supported the proposal, integrating the UNESCO recognition into a context of interventions already underway for the enhancement and conservation of the Sardinian cultural heritage.
