The domus de janas enter the UNESCO World Heritage

The Sardinia Region announces that the UNESCO Committee has officially included the domus de janas in the World Heritage List. The announcement, made in Paris, marks the conclusion of a journey begun in 2018 thanks to the initiative of the “Identity and Memory” Study Centre (CESIM). This important decision is the result of a collaboration between the Sardinia Region, UNESCO office of the Ministry of Culture and Sardinian municipalities, with Alghero leading the way. The domus de janas, prehistoric tombs excavated in the rock, are unique testimonies of the pre-Nuragic civilization and offer new opportunities for sustainable cultural tourism and the enhancement of the territory.
