Celebrating the first anniversary of the UNESCO inscription: two days between Sassari and Alghero
On 14 and 15 July 2026, Sassari and Alghero celebrate the first anniversary of the UNESCO inscription of the serial site "The funerary tradition in the Prehistory of Sardinia - the Domus de Janas", with conferences, exhibitions, concerts and a round table on the Mediterranean serial sites.
One year after its inscription on the World Heritage List, the serial site “The funerary tradition in the Prehistory of Sardinia - the Domus de Janas” celebrates its first UNESCO anniversary with two days of events, on 14 and 15 July 2026, between Sassari and Alghero. Institutional conferences, the opening of a major exhibition, live music, opera and an international round table make up a programme designed to share with the public the outstanding universal value of this extraordinary heritage.

- 4.30 pm - Round table “UNESCO serial sites in the Mediterranean. Sharing experiences”: a moment of dialogue and discussion among the delegations of the UNESCO sites and institutional representatives, scholars and experts. Followed by a celebratory toast with Anghelu Ruju by Sella & Mosca.
- 9.30 pm - Grand concert “Opera for UNESCO”, featuring celebrated arias from the Italian operatic repertoire performed by Ars Aurelia ETS, with Paoletta Marrocu (former Artist for Peace UNESCO), Chiara Guerra, Mauro Secci, Dario Sogos, Antonio De Gobbi and Andrea Mudu. The programme also includes videos dedicated to the UNESCO serial site and the story of the nomination and inscription process.
14-20 July 2026 - Alghero, Historic Centre
An exhibition of photographic panels, each dedicated to one of the 18 UNESCO monuments of the serial site, together with the distribution of commemorative postcards. In collaboration with the CCN Historic Centre and participating shops.
